We have noted down some brief pointers that we think are interesting thoughts for any professional graphic designers in Perth or businesses looking for professional graphic designers.
Listening to the Client
Most graphic designers believe we are ‘right’ and that our professional decision-making is always the correct graphic and creative avenue. In realty, it’s not always the case.
To be a good graphic designer, your job is to listen. Often a Client already know what they want, even if they claim they do not. Our job as graphic designers is too extract the clients aspirations and put it on paper, or screen of course.
Don’t underestimate the Clients opinion or their understanding of their own industry.
Bigger Picture Marketing
For a competent approach to any good graphic design project is it important to understand the bigger picture in terms of where the project is heading, both creatively and technically.
The development of a good graphic design project entails technical competency whereby the technology used is adaptable and easily transferable onto other marketing media.
There is little point is designing a logo design or corporate brand identity that looks great on a letterhead but is not effective or easily transferable onto other media, a grand opening launch banner for example.
So, it’s important to understand what the Client really are going to ’do’ with your work and where they would like to take it, strategically and technically.
Help the Client Focus
In our experience, and at the risk of a huge generalisation, there are two types of Clients:
Client 1 : Lots of ideas, little focus
This initial Client comes with lots of good ideas. Your task as a professional creative and graphic designer is to help them hone it to a refined and effective graphic and marketing solution. Essentially helping to steer the Client in the right direction.
Client 2 : Lots of focus, little ideas
This Client comes with lots of aspirations and drive, yet not enough creative avenues. This is were your ideas come into play, providing clients with a series of creative marketing strategies and eventually effective graphic solutions. This Client is stuck in a creative rut and your job is to pull them out.
