Needless tho say, the online social networking craze is in full bloom and many a ‘techie’ would argue has only just started.
Staying involved with the latest marketing touch-points and technology is vital, and any semi serious Perth brand or organization not taking advantage of the facilities that online social networking has to offer would do well to reconsider.
However, irrespective of any form of brand marketing or brand communication, Perth or elsewhere, we still urge clients not to forget the importance of face to face communication and the sincerity of the human hand shake.
After all marketing your Perth company brand to the outside world is a balance.
Fair enough, visiting a client personally might not always be possible and a personal phone call or an email is always better than nothing . Geographical restrictions may also apply or simply your client just hasn't got the time for you, however if they do, use it.
By visiting a client personally you are proving to your client that you deem them important to your business and very rarely is it not appreciated.
However we have noted a couple of what we believe are important considerations:
-
Don’t just turn up. Give your client plenty of notice you are coming to see them. Nothing worse than unexpected visits.
-
Let it be known that you are there for their company and not to sell them yours. Ask them about their business and show genuine interest in what they are taking part in and not what you are.
-
Read between the lines and try not to take up too much of your clients time unless your presence really is ‘that’ riveting and the the clients begging more.
-
Its always beneficial if you can leave a token, a newsletter, an interesting website address or flyer or even just a bottle of wine.
We'’ve even known electrical product distribution reps buying their customers fried chicken and joining them for an informal lunch and a beer, and looking back, it was well received.
So the moral of the story is, yes, use all the Perth marketing services and technological facilities available to you, use them well and use them plenty, Facebook, Twitter, Newsletters, Flyers, Websites the lot, however don’t forget the personal touch.
After all so many companies play the ‘personal service’ card but simply do not deliver.
So next time I’m in the area , I’ll call in!
